HSC Major Work due in 2.5 weeks D':

Ok well my major work for visual arts is due on 7th September, and I've still got so much more work to do on it.

I'm not too stressed about not getting it finished just yet because I tend to be able to work pretty hard when I really need to. What I'm getting anxious about is the fact that I haven't even decided on if I should do a collection of works, with a 3-minute animation and a collage of my own photos, or just go for the full 6-minute animation (3 mins is the max for a collection of works, 6 mins for only a time-based work).

There's one difficultly tho. It is pretty much impossible for me to complete 2-3 minutes of animation in only 2.5 weeks. I'm just too much of a perfectionist and I'll waste most of that time on small, insignificant details.

<half a day later>

Lol, just came back to this unsubmitted journal entry and now have a totally different viewpoint on it. I'm gonna own this thing :D

<edit> Btw, for those who don't know already, in my opinion my photography skills have improved tenfold since the photos uploaded here (gotta love narcissism :D) and I can't wait to start uploading new photos. But there's a couple potential problems with that so I'm not uploadin just yet. Be prepared for a crazy amount of art being submitted in about two months, after my HSC exams are finished :D </edit>

Reason for inactivity - the HSC year is ghey.

HSC = Higher School Certificate, in Australia. In other words, that one set of exams and assessments you really don't want to screw up. :XD:

Unlike my last two journal entries, I'm actually feeling rather good atm. I'm a little anxious but that's slowly fading to black, or white if you wish. Or Alpha 0% if you're a Flash animator. :XD:

I have many artworks to submit, but I've got no time to do so. Every second of my day is study, basically. But that's what you gotta aim for if you want a UAI of 90+ =D Actually I don't mind what I get as a UAI (UAI being the University Admission Index, in Australia. It's what you need to get into courses in uni). But I gotta beat my brother hehe.

Anyways, lots of photos and one massively awesome animation to submit at the end of the year. It'll definitely be worth the wait. I was gonna give a spoiler but I'm probably not even allowed to do that. Unfortunately I'm not gonna submit any art related to this animation during the year because it's for my major work for Visual Arts, and I don't want anyone stealing my ideas or, more importantly, for the markers to think they've seen the style elsewhere and give me zero. But like I said, the wait will be worth it.

OMGNEVERMORE3INEARLYFORGOT! Adam when's it coming out again? I was lucky enough to be able to beta test it, and all I can say is one word. Epic. That's another Flash that will definitely be worth the wait.

Conclusion eh? Hmm... I never was good at those.

Sketches

Fri Mar 14, 2008, 8:55 PM
  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: John Butler Trio - Grand National
  • Watching: Here Comes Dr. Tran
  • Playing: Jade Empire, flOw, Lego Star Wars xD
I've been doing sketches more than ever, since somethin weird happened not allowing me much access to my compy for ages. I've only just realised that i'm not all that bad at sketching so long as i don't perfect the lines too much; like i did a pretty decent rainforest sketch which i'll put up here soon enough.

Also, bushwalking ftfw. I do one every few weeks coz of all the awesome tracks near my place. Such a good way to think about absolutely nothing, i recommend it.

Hopefully i'll do more sketches soon but its pretty hard to find inspiration given my current state.

Greatest Animated Films of all time

Sun Feb 3, 2008, 11:23 PM
  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: Radiohead - OK Computer
  • Watching: Here Comes Dr. Tran - Dr Tran. xD
  • Playing: Jade Empire, flOw... anything really.
Tell me in a reply your 5 favourite animated films ever, i'm curious. You don't have to be an animator; you don't even have to like animated films. Just tell me the five animated films you've seen that have spoken to you the most.

My first and foremost is The Incredibles. Amazingly animated, voice-acted, directed... and um, presented i guess. Most memorable character would have to be that Asian (Japanese maybe? i dunno) woman who created those new superhero costumes for em... awesome accent =D. On top of that, some of the most beautiful and moving landscape design i've seen in an animated movie; the soundtrack owned as well.

Next would have to be Yellow Submarine. Lol yes i know, The Beatles are lame (kinda), but the first time i watched this was sometime between 3 and 7 years of age, and whenever i watch the film again i think back on those childhood dreams and imaginations. Amazingly inventive and weird, it's a really well directed movie with animation elements that i don't think any other animator could recreate as perfectly and as vividly as they.

...Ok i know it sounds a little weird, seeing as because i'm an animator i have forgotten what my third favourite animated film is... :XD:, but i'll come back in a couple mins and know exactly what to say, until then; go make some art or sumthin. That's the sure way to win at life. =D

In other news... right now, i am feeling that many pieces from my childhood have just... well, been placed back on my wooden floor-puzzle of life. I feel so incredibly calm. Not many times in my life have i felt so calm as right now. Happy, fearless, inspired. Whatever you want to call it, I never want it to end.
